D.C. Freedman’s series of best selling soccer novels have been available in the United Kingdom for several years and both boys and girls adore them. Now, with Brad Friedel’s support, Freedman is making his way to America, where he has launched a rewritten version of The Jamie Johnson Series to appeal to the young American reader.
Brad’s experience in soccer – from youth, through college, to the pros, and at international level – taught him many life lessons. The Jamie Johnson book series perfectly captures and explores many of these themes. The literacy and learning benefits from reading these novels complement the playing and training experience for kids in the soccer community.
“The soccer novel series is not a “how-to” soccer book. It’s a great story with ups and downs, and twists and turns. It will get the kids thinking and help them pick up important life lessons. The book is a page-turner, and will keep young readers hooked until the very last page. My kids couldn’t put the book down. As soon as they finished the first book, they came to me demanding the next book in the Jamie Johnson Series, as they could not wait to find out what happens next,” said Brad.
Freedman explains, “I am really excited The Jamie Johnson Series has arrived in the States. So far, Born to Play has received amazingly positive reviews, which echoes the success they’ve had in the UK. I look forward to working with Brad as we endeavor to get The Jamie Johnson Series into the hands of as many children as possible in schools, soccer camps and soccer clubs around the country.”
The Jamie Johnson Series follows a young boy who lives and breathes soccer. He’s got amazing talent and the desire to make it to the top. He’s not perfect, but then none of us are. In each new book of the series, we follow Jamie on every step of his journey as he aims to fulfill his dream of becoming one of the biggest soccer stars in the world.
Born to Play is the first book in the series.
Jamie Johnson had it all: a happy family, great buddies and a beautiful home. But that was back in the States, back before his whole life was turned upside down. Now he’s living in England with nothing – apart from a secret dream to one day become a soccer legend.
